AlexRenew - RiverRenew Tunnel Project
Alexandria, Virginia

The RiverRenew Tunnel Project is a two-mile long, 12-foot diameter tunnel project located in Alexandria, VA. When completed, the tunnel system will capture millions of gallons of combined sewage from four existing outfalls each year and transport them to the AlexRenew Treatment Plant. The project also includes construction of the half-mile long, 6-foot diameter Hooffs Run Interceptor to capture combined sewage prior to discharge into Four Mile Run.

Illest Environmental is delivering comprehensive environmental management services for every aspect of the tunnel project, acting as a key partner to the design-builder. These services encompass a wide range of environmental compliance and mitigation strategies, ensuring that all activities align with local, state, and federal regulations. Our expertise includes overseeing environmental impacts, conducting assessments, and managing potential risks throughout the project’s development, from initial excavation to final construction.

We are also responsible for providing specialized noise and vibration monitoring, modeling, and control solutions. These services are crucial for construction in areas near sensitive receptors, such as residential neighborhoods, hospitals, schools, and other locations where noise and vibration could negatively impact public health or infrastructure stability. Our work involves real-time monitoring, predictive modeling, and the implementation of advanced control technologies to minimize disturbances, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain community relations throughout the duration of the project.

DC Water - Northeast Boundary Tunnel Project
Washington, District of Columbia

The DC Water Northeast Boundary Tunnel (NEBT) Project is a 5-mile long, 23-foot diameter tunnel project located in the heart of Washington, DC. To address chronic flooding from the sewer system after heavy precipitation, DC Water has initiated the construction of the NEBT to connect with the existing sewer system. Once completed, the NEBT will reduce combined sewer overflows to the Anacostia River by 98%.

Illest Environmental is providing comprehensive field noise and vibration monitoring services and innovative solutions, acting on behalf of the design-builder. We play a critical role in ensuring that construction activities comply with regulatory standards, minimize disruption to surrounding communities, and protect sensitive environments.

Our services include real-time monitoring, data analysis, and customized reporting, which assist the design-build team in managing noise and vibration impacts throughout the project lifecycle. This proactive approach helps mitigate risks, maintain project timelines, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
